JL McVey Building Co., Inc. is owned and operated by James L. McVey. James graduated from Texas A&M University in 1979 and soon after began his construction career with Tribble and Stephens Construction Co. in Houston , Tx . Prior to 1995, James worked for Birtcher Wadsworth Development Co, Pointe Builders, and Boran Craig Barber Construction Co. in Houston , Texas , San Diego , California , and Naples , Florida . In 1995 James recognized the opportunities of a growing SW Florida market place and launched Gates McVey Builders, Inc. Initially started as a general contracting firm, the firm expanded into real estate development and enjoyed extraordinary success over the next 10 years. An unfortunate by-product of the success was the gravitation away from what James loves most about the industry; working personally with customers to insure their satisfaction by delivering on early commitments to the best of his ability. As a result, James sold his entire interest in the Gates McVey organization and formed JL McVey Building Co., Inc. in September of 2004.
